Book Time in the Podcasting Studio

Podcasting & the Digital Innovation Lab:

The Process

When it’s time to record your podcast, you’ll come to the podcast studio in MacPháidín library and, unless directed otherwise, you can meet in the Digital Lab.

Preparation:

Good podcasts require planning and preparation. In the weeks and days before your recording, you should dedicate time to developing an outline and/or storyboard for the podcast. A course podcast is a lot like a class presentation. You will want to be prepared but not sound overly scripted.

Recording:

Your podcast will be recorded “live-to-tape”—this means you should record with the intention of making few or no edits. Coughs, loud noises, or other unintentional sounds can be removed when editing.

A student lab worker (Digital Fellow) will guide you through the recording, adjusting microphone levels and ensuring we have a quality recording.

Editing:

You will be responsible for editing and distributing your recording. If you’re recording for a class project, you professor will tell you about the next steps after recording.
